Teardrop

Pele is "she who shapes the sacred land" but even with strength comes vulnerability. The dew drop reminds me of a tear - sorrow for the way we are treating our planet. Sorrow for the way women are treated. Sorrow for so many things. But - the tears will fade and strength will prevail.

Some women fear the fire and some simply become it.......

I was inspired by the brilliant red in both photos.

I saw strength and confidence and thought about the latest women's marches. I wonder how glorious it would be to see a sea of red headed women marching together, dressed in red.

In all of history, women have been made to feel incomplete. I wrote this poem, not about an actual pregnancy, but about the eternal child inside ourselves who will always connect us to originality and our truest being where we are complete. We really are equal, we just have to believe it and not allow anything less.

I am submitting a photo of a moment I captured last year of an adult and a child sharing a bicycle ride and a red umbrella.

The leaf suggests a shield, perhaps an umbrella, the teardrop is the rain; both are a reminder that we all have storms to weather. The photo reminds me that there are always others that will help you through your storm.

Simultaneous sadness and beauty of Nature communicating the need for more awareness of our role as citizens of the planet to take postive and healing action.

This painting

The tragic beauty of melting glaciers is powerfully expressed in the images of a moulin, a well-like shaft into which the water from the dying giants pours with great force. The rapidly increasing events of glaciers melting at an amazing speed is one of the biggest calls for the people of this planet to wake up and do something about climate change- immediately.

Her Last Year

A goodbye to our matriarch as she lived her life until was no drop of spirit left within her.

This candid portrait of my mom who lived a life so rich it ripped my heart with joy.

Jane’s photo elicited this heartache so organic there was only one thing it resonated with, the simple joy of a life well lived until there wasn’t a drop of life remaining.

A single, simple leaf can represent so much

A painting, from what I initially saw in the leaf

I had a strong reaction to the picture - When I looked at it, I saw a fire fighters hat. I left a single tear in the black area. Firefighters have to be so tough.

This is a self portrait I took last year in response to some deep grief I was experiencing.

When I stumbled across this image, I knew I had to respond to my own work here on Consenses.

The tear/dewdrop, the red leaf/hair, the black background....It's almost the same photo.

I created an abstract form based on the leaf in the photograph. I wanted to see what would happen if I used the leaf photograph as a jumping off point
