Being parents
photography By Debora Baldelli
The eyes of the two women in the painting [I interpreted from last Month's Challenge] seemed like a statement. They are not relaxed with the baby, but posing saying "we are together no matter what". This kind of makes me think of the new wonderful LGBT families that still need to make statements to say they exist, even today. So It is a strong painting to me, very political. I tried to make a version with toys because it is something I am working in photography at the moment. It was the subject of my Capstone Project called Toys and Us. Why toys? Because toys are objects for the imagination. They encourage social development.
