A Big Thank You From Sally – for attending Consenses 2014 in Martha’s Vineyard

Your support touched me deeply.  A special thanks to all 86 Consenses artists who made a special trip to witness the transformational journey your art made into into the language of dance, song, scent, taste, touch and sight. People were inspired, touched and moved by your collaboration so much so that we were forced to position tissues outside each station.  I could not have hoped or dreamed for a more celebrated more powerful birthing for Consenses.  Thank you to everyone who was there and/or made it possible.  You’ve made my dreams come true…

wow – awesome job Sally. Little did I know that all those years ago that when I first picked up the “Sweet Baby James” album and “Anticipation” record at the same time , what kind of magic I was in for. I was about 10. We had a “phonograph” with 4 sets of headphones and we always sang loudly with them on, not realizing how loud we were! We had about 100 “rock” records at the library and sat right next to the table. As I looked through the liner notes of those records, I’d see “Tapestry”, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, “There goes Rhymin Simon”, and other masterpieces in the rack. When I found out that these two incredible singers actually got MARRIED, I had to feel like my dedication to both of their records had some mind melding influence. I followed their careers right from the very start. THey are both so incredible and for so many different reasons. I love to remember laying in my bed as a teen, with the lights off, just listening to a rotation of their records (Usually “Gorilla”, “No Secrets”, “Flag” or “JT”, and “Hotcakes”) as I would go off to sleep. I loved both of their records….but what I loved most, was the sound of those two voices together. There’s still nothing like it. When you were born, it was quite thrilling to see the little baby I’d come to know from the cover of the “Hotcakes” record. Your mom never looked so beautiful – and she’s always beautiful….You could just feel the joy of motherhood coming from the photo. It’s a phenomenal record and is always my very first choice as to what I’ll take on a desert island! I also just love your dad’s song…”Sarah maria”. His style of writing is just incredible – I’ve seen him perform approx. 30 times (mostly at Spac and Albany area). His music is just one of the most soothing things I can think of….you just go with him. When you were born, there were birth announcements in all the rock “rags”. Hopefully you will remember a guy giving you a copy of your birth announcement from Creem magazine that was at the time 26 years old. (see I have PROOF I’m a huge fan!). That’s me. I enjoyed meeting you that night at Valentines in Albany. I’m sure you heard me talking about you on Howard Sterrn’s radio show when your mom was on. I was so thrilled to talk to them both at the same time…how cool is that? I was so happy to be able to tell everyone how beautiful you are. I can tell just by following you, by listening to your music (which I do all the time….hopin for some real soon!) and just being a fan of every musical Simon/Taylor for eons and eons. (I’m just discovering Julie’s music.). I’ve seen and met both you and Ben a couple of times. The two of you are just incredible. You are both very passionate about your “causes” and your music and your family. Ben is an incredible young man and a very talented performer. He’s done amazing things with your mom’s music….and he’s great himself. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to have all of you be such a bright light in my world for so long. We need more of your energy in the world. Your parents raised some pretty amazing kids. When I heard you were having a child of your own, I couldn’t have been more excited. Now only for you, but thought – what an awesome gift for her folks who have everything….Bodhi is just beautiful….of course he is, it’s in the genes….I haven’t seen a picture of him in some time but know that he’s growing fast. That happens – so don’t miss a minute of it. I’ve been really “jonesin'” (LOL) for some new Sally tunes….are you workin’ on any? I just love “Tomboy Bride” and “Split Decisions” and “All this time”. When I saw you at Valentines you played “Don’t say you don’t remember”…I’ve been begging you to record it for years – I hope you consider it – you sang it so great. You also did “Stuck in the Middle with you” – another great cover. I followed your “Colorado years” and enjoyed all of your posts and photos there. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been – you seem to agree. Now it’s exciting to see you with Consenses. This is a wonderful thank you ….great page. I truly wish I could have been there. It looks like it was an amazing and very fun event. Congratulations on it’s success, I know you put your heart and soul into everything you do. I look forward to seeing your next projects. Thank you for being one of the “Do’ers” !!! Your brother promised me he’s bring you and Carly to see me in Orlando – hope that dream comes true! Peace…..Shawn (formerly “Shawn From Albany”….PS – cropped myself out of this pic, framed it and gave it to your dad. I like to think it’s in his house somewhere…..
