Corinne de Langavant
I am a performance artist and a collector of heart shaped rocks. I love the woman on the rock photograph. In recalling the image, I feel the warmth radiating from the rock into my body and a sense of comfort and joy comes over me.
My work as a professional figure skater, swimming, gymnastics, Tai Chi and dance teacher have made me partial to the healing potential of circular motion and it’s ability to enhance creative expression and overall sense of well being.
My work has also included entertaining people of all ages and backgrounds since 1992 here on the Vineyard; as a singer-songwriter (co-founded and produced “Friday Night Live” singer-songwriter’s series), choreographed and performed in Built on Stilts dance festivals for over 15 years, produced “Art on Ice (combining live music, gymnastics, dance, figure and hockey skaters). Also currently working as a Voice Movement Therapy practitioner with a specialty in neuro-processing challenges such as Autism, Asperger’s, A.D.D./A.D.H.D., Cerebral Palsy, Parkenson’s and Alzheimer’s). Targeting the nervous system (s) through working with heart, together, we are guided through a series of circular movement based processes using song and rhythm that seem to help reprogram neuro-processors that may be shut down (whether it be biological or trauma based); enhance expressiveness, increase potential for FEELING comfort and joy. In this way we hope to make accessing vocalization possible through positive input, regular, systematic and persistent focus; breath and sound and of course, a lot of love. I am in the process of re-building a website but for more on “The Use of Voice Movement Therapy in the Treatment of Autism” go to: mvtv.org; video on demand; type in Coco in the subject box and scroll through shows (I have produced over 25 in less than ten years so don’t expect perfection; many are not listed; please email me with questions or feedback. Thanking you in advance for your consideration! 😉
